MLB Best Bets for Wednesday, July 7th
Monday, we get swept in the MLB. Tuesday, we swept and took down a +190 winner if you played it that way. Let’s look to replicate Tuesday as we try to turn a triple play in MLB Best Bets.
Tigers vs. Rangers
Sometimes it helps to just follow trends. For my first bet of today’s article, I’m leaning on the trend of a top 10 pitcher who is the most profitable first five-inning pitcher in baseball. Usually, this is because his team is the underdog so often. Casey Mize pitches for Detroit today and is a +126 moneyline dog against the Rangers. He has been strong against batters the first and second time against them in the lineup. Kyle Gibson for the Rangers has been outstanding since his first start of the season. He has a 1.09 ERA at home, so this won’t be an easy feat for the Tigers, but I’m going to stick with the trend and play Mize. I could see this being a draw, so if you want to take a swing on that, it is +460 for the three-way result, which is a great value.
Phillies vs. Cubs
Well, we are 1-1 on our Phillies vs. Cubs bets so far. Let’s go for winning the series today. The Cubs actually scored 10 runs last night, breaking out of their offensive slump. Too bad they gave up 15 runs. Let’s talk about today though. Zack Wheeler pitches for the Phillies and has held the Cubs to a .221 average. Jason Heyward, who is hitting under .200 this year, has had the most success against him, and Kris Bryant is 3-for-7 in his career against Wheeler. Alec Mills doesn’t have nearly as much experience against the Phillies, but they have hit him to the tune of .333. Philly superstar, Bryce Harper, is 2-for-2 with a home run against Mills. The line has moved in favor of the Cubs in this one, but I just don’t see it. Take the Phillies at -142.
Blue Jays vs. Orioles
This is the third time that Matt Harvey has faced the Blue Jays in his last four starts. In those games, the Blue Jays scored five and seven runs. They are hitting .357 against Harvey in 60 at-bats. The team total for the Blue Jays is six runs, which is pretty high, but it seems as though the wind is blowing out. Hyun Jin Ryu is a very good pitcher, but he has been hittable for sure. I think the total gets over the posted 10.5 from the two teams. I’m playing the Blue Jays and over 10.5 parlay for +170.
