There are a lot of day games in baseball today because it is a getaway day for many teams. I’m going to try and give readers a chance to get bets in after a busy workday and provide night game bets that I’ve found.

Giants vs. Nationals

Scherzer isn’t someone I will often bet against. There is an opportunity though to take a shot on the Giants, based on a profitable trend. So far this year, they are the best team in the majors for profitability in the first five innings on the moneyline. Who is the worst? That’s right, the Nationals. I’m sticking with the Giants at +176 in the first five innings to continue their profitability train.

Rockies vs. Marlins

The Marlins are getting a lot of sharp money on them, and I think it is for good reason. Chi Chi Gonzales, the starter for the Rockies tonight, has a 6.33 ERA in five away starts this season. Considering he plays his games at Coors Field, you’d expect this to be the other way around. In any case, he is away tonight and facing Trevor Rogers, a pitcher with a 1.97 ERA who has an even lower ERA at home. The Rockies hitters have never seen him either. I am going to take the Marlins on the run line at -1.5 and +100 for the value.

Astros vs. Red Sox

I have two plays in this one. I’ll cut right to the chase, I’m taking the Astros at what is essentially 50/50 on the moneyline. Both teams are -108 for the game. I’m going to take the proven, well-established Greinke over Eduardo Rodriguez. You won’t find Greinke starts at that cheap very often. The other play I’m taking is Carlos Correa to record 2+ hits at +190. Correa is batting .667 against Rodriguez (6 for 9), and while that is a limited sample size, I can’t avoid taking the shot at plus money.
