MLB Best Bets for Saturday, July 17th
We go for it again on the diamond. Below are the three best bets in MLB for July 17, 2021. Let’s turn a triple play.
Dodgers vs. Rockies
The Dodgers picked up right where they left off from the first half of the season, beating the Rockies 10-4 as they look to overtake the Giants for first place in the division. Tonight, they send Walker Buehler to the hill to face Kyle Freeland. Buehler has been great this season and was strong in his one start against Colorado this season. Freeland has really struggled since his 2018 campaign. However, both starters have faced these lineups many times and have a good track record against the other team’s hitters. The wind is also expected to blow in tonight at Coors. I’m going to do a parlay here and play the Dodgers moneyline with under 12. This is different than the double result, that is listed with 11.5 runs. I’ll give up 14 cents to grab the extra half run.
Marlins vs. Phillies
Tonight, the wind is expected to blow out at 10 mph. I’ll cut to the chase and tell you I’m playing the over 9.5 runs in the game. I think the Marlins can get to Vince Velasquez and grab some runs off of the Phillies bullpen. The Phillies have never seen Zack Thompson, and he has been good for the Fish this year, but these are limited starts to base his performance on. With the wind blowing out and him being more of a fly ball pitcher, the over should hit.
Padres vs. Nationals
Well, hopefully, the Padres didn’t use up all of their runs yesterday. Blake Snell will likely need some run support as the Nationals are hitting .266 against lefties this season. Snell posted back-to-back no runs allowed starts before the All-Star Break, and maybe he found something to return him to his form that we’ve been more accustomed to. Wil Myers and Manny Machado have both had historical success against Nationals starter Patrick Corbin. Against the rest of the Padres lineup there have been mixed results, but nothing that stands out. What does stand out to me is that Corbin carries a 6.08 ERA during evening games. Play the Padres to win the game at -134, don’t wanna lay the juice? I think they should win by more than one run so the run line is an option here too at +126.
