MLB Best Bets for Friday, September 10, 2021
We could end our workweek with a really nice day today as we embark on another three of the best bets for MLB. Let’s make some Friday cash.
Padres vs. Dodgers
The Padres and Dodgers were supposed to compete for first and second place in the division. Unfortunately for the Padres, only the Dodgers held up their end of the bargain. Now, the Padres are battling for the third wild card spot against two NL Central division teams. Joe Musgrove has been a bright spot for the Padres this season. He has a 2.87 ERA and has given up just two earned runs in two starts over nine innings against the Dodgers. For the Dodgers, Julio Urias has also been really strong, but his home starts have left a bit to be desired. Urias has a 3.87 ERA and against the Padres he’s given up six earned runs over nine innings during two starts. Hard to ever bet against the Dodgers, but this is a game I’ll take a chance as Musgrove is the better pitcher. Play the Padres to win at +138.
Brewers vs. Indians
These two small-market teams are on different paths. The Indians are on a rebuild and the Brewers are once again headed for the playoffs. Offensively, though, neither team is going to intimidate anyone aside from maybe one middle of the lineup hitter. Pitching is where they both succeed and tonight should be no different. For the Brewers, Adrian Houser throws to a 4.37 road ERA. He’s only faced two Cleveland batters, and in both appearances, neither hitter made it on-base. For the Indians, Eli Morgan is pitching. He has been drastic with his splits – his home ERA is sky high, the road ERA is 3.31, which provides a bit of concern for tonight. Over his last 18.1 innings, he’s allowed 13 earned runs. I think the Brewers should win this game by more than one run. Play the run line at +112.
Reds vs. Cardinals
This game, and series, have a huge potential to impact the playoffs. If the Reds can sweep, they have a good chance to at least fight off one more team from the Wild Card chase and potentially take the lead over the Padres depending on what happens with the Dodgers series. Tonight it starts with Tyler Mahle. Luckily for them, Mahle is lights out on the road this year. He boasts a 1.90 ERA over 15 road starts and he has a 3.18 ERA against the Cardinals in three starts this season. For the Cardinals, they get big game pitcher Jon Lester to throw for them. Lester has been great for the Cardinals in four of his last five starts. That includes a 3-1 win over the Reds just a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I’m playing under 8.5 runs at -112.
