MLB Best Bets for Friday, June 18th
Another day, another 2-1 night for some more profit. Today, we have nothing but night games on the MLB Slate, so let’s try and turn that triple play once again with three MLB Best Bets.
Athletics vs. Yankees
So far in just five starts, James Kaprielian has been a strong contributor to the Athletics' rotation. Tonight he faces a dangerous Yankees team that is coming off a road trip and a sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays. For the Yankees, Jameson Tallion goes to the hill carrying a 5.74 ERA. Most of the damage to him has been done on the road, however. His home ERA is only 3.22, compared to the astronomical 11.12 on the road. Something about the warm welcome and friendly people of New York must just do it for him… Either way, looking at sharp money, they are expecting the Yankees to win, and I’m with them. Take the Yankees at -134.
Tigers vs. Angels
Back to Los Angeles I go for our next play. This is pretty simple: I think the Angels are the better team and both starting pitchers are good for giving up runs. I’m looking at the value on this play and taking a parlay of the Angels winning the game (moneyline) and the total going over 9. You can play the double result of over 9.5 and get an extra 10 cents of juice if you want, but I’m sticking with the 9 runs to limit my risk. I expect both teams to score but ultimately the Angels end up on top. Angels plus the over 9 runs pays +200.
Cardinals vs Braves
Carlos Martinez has given up multiple earned runs in all but three of his starts. Martinez has Braves hitters batting .351 against him lifetime. Max Fried has not been anywhere close to what he did last year. He had a very good May, but is seeing mixed results in June. Cardinals hitters have faced him only 11 times in their collective careers, but they have four hits off of him, which is pretty solid. The Cardinals, though, are batting .256 against lefties this season. I’m taking the over 9.5 on the total runs for the game, despite the line being juiced towards the under.
