Jalen Hurts Wants To Flush Away Memories Of Crappy Game
Last evening, Monday Night Football featured a NFC East clash between two of the league’s largest markets, Dallas and Philadelphia. Second-year Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who had so far led the Birds to a respectable 1-1 record, looked lost most of the evening in an eventual 41-21 loss to the Cowboys.
Philadelphia was widely picked to be a bottom-tier team during the preseason, but their big opening day win over the Falcons and the low-scoring battle against the 49ers in Week Two, which showed a lot of heart, led some to believe that they may outplay their expectations.
Hurts seems to believe this team still has a lot of potential, though he did acknowledge the loss in a funny way.
“I take responsibility for how this game went tonight. I take responsibility for that. I’m going to learn from it. We’re going to be a better team from it. I believe that. I truly believe that,” Hurts said.
“You take you a deuce, you don’t sit there and look at it. You flush it and move on. We’re going to flush it and move on.”
Hurts finished the game with 326 yards on 25-of-39 passing, including two touchdowns and two interceptions (one of which was a pick-six). The Eagles couldn’t move the ball on the ground though. Hurts had nine carries for a measly 35 yards, while no other player on the team had more than two carries. No NFL team is winning with numbers like that.
Hurts is right, though, no time to stare at the turd, as the 1-2 Chiefs are scheduled to come to town this weekend. The Chiefs run defense is one of the most porous in the league, so the Eagles should have better luck attempting to cover the (+7.5) spread, via FanDuel Sportsbook, thanks to a better ground game. But the Chiefs will be focused and angry after their sluggish start. Feels like another classic Chiefs high-scoring affair in the making; maybe take a look at the (54.5) total when analyzing this matchup.
