Green Bay Packers Get Huge Boost In Betting Markets After Micah Parsons Trade

The Dallas Cowboys dealt Pro Bowl defender Micah Parsons to the Packers, and Green Bay's Super Bowl odds soared instantly.

If Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ever wondered, "How much is All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons worth?" the betting market delivered a clear answer moments after Thursday’s blockbuster trade that sent Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Following the trade, Green Bay shot up the odds boards. At DraftKings, the Packers are now tied with the division-rival Detroit Lions as the fifth betting favorite to win the Super Bowl and rank as the second choice to win the NFC. Oddsmakers made Green Bay slight favorites to win the NFC North.

The cost of acquiring Parsons was surprisingly manageable for a player of his caliber. The Packers sent the Cowboys two first-round picks and DT Kenny Clark in exchange for the generational defender. But Green Bay did what Dallas refused to: Make Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

While the writing was on the wall, Jones has been known to play contract chicken with his stars, but usually pays up. Regardless, Cowboys fans have to be stunned. Despite only being in his fifth NFL season, Parsons would be a heavy favorite to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame if sportsbooks offered a line for that.

So, Jones trading Parsons to Green Bay could be his worst roster decision since he bought the Cowboys in 1989. I'm sure Parsons will be looking to prove Dallas made a mistake when it hosts the Packers at Jerry World for Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
