FanDuel Says Absolutely Not To Jacksonville Jaguars' Demands For Refund On Stolen Money

The Jacksonville Jaguars are about to realize the same fate that the rest of us do whenever our bets don't hit - tough luck.

According to ESPN, the football franchise has asked FanDuel to refund all or part of the $20+ million that a rogue employer stole from the team and used on a ton of bets in what may impressively be the worst betting streak of all time.

FanDuel however, is saying "Yeah right," and it appears the Jags may be ‘jagged’ out of luck.

JAGUARS WANT FANDUEL TO REFUND MILLIONS

"The way they [FanDuel] sees it, 'we got this money fair and clear. It's not our problem that we have to forfeit it back to you," the ESPN source who is familiar with the ongoing negotiations between FanDuel, the Jaguars and the NFL said.

It appears that FanDuel may be in the right. Under current federal law, FanDuel would have to make sure that all bets were legally obtained that were wagered on sports betting. However, the overwhelming majority of the bets were done on Daily Fantasy Sports - which is much more of a gray area when it comes to compensation.

"I would be gobsmacked if it happened," he continued.

Sorry, Jacksonville. If I don't get reimbursed when I crush a 12-pack of Coors Lights and rip some shots before I proceed to lose all of my sports bets for the night, neither do you for not realizing that someone you were paying was still stealing tens of millions of dollars from ya.

Amir Patel was a finance manager within the Jaguars organization when he devised a way to electronically steal money through the team's virtual credit card system as if he was in Office Space. And just like the movie - it worked, but a little too well… I'm talking $22 million too well. Eventually, someone in the organization was like "Hey, where's that twenty MILLION dollars that we had?" with Patel eventually pleading guilty to a bunch of fraud charges.

Once again Vegas (and FanDuel) will most likely end up winning like they always do. Meanwhile, I'm sure the Jaguars and their billionaire owner Shakid Khan will be just fine. And heck, maybe even Patel will be alright as well. If I'm an aspiring sports filmmaker, I'm making a documentary about the Worst Daily Sports Bettor of all time.

Patel will have plenty of time to divulge how he did it, as he faces unto 30 years in prison.
