Caitlin Clark Vs. Angel Reese Part 5: Indiana Fever At Chicago Sky Sunday Pick

Including their famous college games, the Indiana Fever (7-10) at Chicago Sky (5-9) Sunday is the fifth meeting between Fever SG Caitlin Clark and Sky forward Angel Reese. Clark holds a 3-1 lead in their head-to-head. She got revenge for her loss to Reese in the 2023 NCAA Women's Championship by beating her in the Elite 8 of the 2023 women's big dance

The Fever won the first two meetings vs. Chicago this season — 71-70 June 1st and 91-83 June 16th — both in Indiana. Clark averaged 17.0 points on 50.0% shooting with 8.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 5.0 turnovers. Reese scored 9.5 points on 27.3% shooting and 13.0 rebounds.

I understand the pro-Caitlin Clark sentiment and get that everyone probably wants the Fever to win again on Sunday. However, I cannot bet with my heart or fandom. And once you start building a case for both teams, it's easy to call this a smash spot for the Sky.

Indiana Fever at Chicago Sky Odds (DraftKings)

  • Moneyline: Indiana (+110) | CHICAGO (-130)
  • Spread: Fever +2 (-110) | Sky -2 (-110)
  • Total — 170.5 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)

The first Fever-Sky meeting was a toss-up. The second was a two-point game entering the fourth quarter before Indiana pulled away. Yet, these teams split the eight quarters and "four factors" and the Fever were at home for both games. The Sky had 19 more field goal attempts in the second game, which should've been a dealbreaker but Chicago built a brick house.

With that in mind, the Sky should again dominate in the "battle for possessions" Sunday. They commit 2.6 fewer turnovers per game than their opponents and the Fever grab 2.1 fewer rebounds. Chicago is +2.2 in net points per game (PPG) off of turnovers and Indiana is -3.9 PPG off of turnovers.

If the Sky wins the battle of possession again Sunday, they'll be in good shape. They shoot better across the board at home. Chicago is 42.9% from the field (41.4% field goal shooting on the road), 36.2% from behind the arc (26.0% on the road), and 83.4% from the foul line (70.3% on the road).

Furthermore, the Sky has a significant rest edge. This is Indiana's fourth game this week and Chicago's third. The Sky is playing after two days' rest while the Fever had just one day off. Chicago is a big and physical team, making it a tough game if Indiana has tired legs.

Also, the sportsbooks are begging us to bet the Fighting Caitlin Clarks. This game went from a pick 'em to the Sky -2 despite roughly 90% of the money being on the Fever, per Pregame.com. Indy has won four straight games and five of its last six. The Sky snapped a four-game losing streak Thursday with an 83-72 win over the Dallas Wings.

I'll keep it real with you guys, I don't have a dog in this fight and don't care about the WNBA. If the NBA and NFL were on, I wouldn't be here. But, I'm intrigued by the drama and I will be doing my laundry Sunday afternoon with only MLB to watch. Finally, and most importantly, the Sky are clearly the sharp side here.

Best Bet: Chicago Sky moneyline (-130)
