Baylor Will Handle Business Against Sooners

Oklahoma vs. Baylor, 9:00 ET

Oklahoma vs. Baylor, 9:00 ET

Thank God for College Hoops because the only other thing to bet on right now is soccer, hockey, and the NBA. Soccer has opportunities, but frankly there are too many teams for me to accurately track games. Hockey has crushed me all season, and the NBA was great for three months then absolutely brutal for most of January, and now back to decent. College basketball has been my one true constant. My reliable source of funding for this sports betting love that I have. I'm hopeful that today once again can give us another unit to our bankroll as we play Oklahoma vs. Baylor

Oklahoma comes into this game with an 18-6 record and the 25th rank in the nation. At this point, they also are 6-5 in conference and could use another win to separate themselves a bit from the competition but also make them secure a better rank in the conference tournament. They started the season 10-0 before they dropped a game to North Carolina on a neutral court. The other five losses they've suffered were all conference games as they dropped road games to TCU and Kansas. The struggles didn't stop there, they were at home and dropped two games to Texas and Texas Tech. The game against Texas Tech was competitive as they fell 85-84. Their final loss also came on the road against UCF. The total of their six losses this season have come by an average of 10 points. There was only one game that was a one-possession game. All other losses were by nine or more points. Oklahoma has three guys that average double digits in the points column, and another five that average six or more points. That's a solid rotation that they can rely on for some scoring. While they don't have one guy that can take over a game, they do a good job of getting everyone involved which helps on both offense and defense. The biggest problem is they are rather turnover prone. Against a team like Baylor, they cannot afford to turn the ball over and still have a chance.

One big advantage that Baylor has is that they are the home team. This is the 13th home game they will play this season and to this point, they are 12-1 with their only loss being against TCU when they dropped the game in triple overtime. This is one of the tougher stretches of schedule that any team in the country has had to play with it being the fourth consecutive game against a ranked team. They play at a tough West Virginia team then face another two ranked teams. Saturday, they lost to Kansas. It was a game I bet on and got wrong as they kept it closer than the seven-point spread I had. Coming home, I think they are likely to get back on track here. I spoke a bit about the depth that Oklahoma has on their roster, but Baylor is no slouch in that department themselves. They have six guys that are averaging 9.7 or more points per game. Their rotation is about seven people deep, and not much of that is height, it is more athletic guards that can shoot. They also have turnover issues, but the majority of that is from guard Rayj Dennis. He leads the team with 6.4 assists per game, but also leads the team with 3.4 turnovers per game. His turnover issues don't just disappear at home either.

Oklahoma clearly has issues on the road and doesn't really even keep games close when they play on the road. Baylor has struggled and had to play through a very tough stretch right now. However, they do tend to take care of business at home and have to be ready to pick up on their loss from this weekend. I'm going to take Baylor -6.5 in this game. Oklahoma might keep it close in the first half, but I think Baylor pulls away in the second.
