Back Boston College To Beat Miami For A Third Time

Miami vs. Boston College, 7:00 ET

The Conference tournaments have already paid dividends for us as I was able to go 2-0 in the games yesterday. Now even more tournaments begin today as the ACC kicks off. We are still in the early portion of the conference tournaments and don't have the best matchups, but we don't need the best teams playing in order to find some good value on games. We have plays to be made in these games and we will make them. Tonight, we are going to take on a game between Miami and Boston College.

It was around this time last year that Miami came alive and made a nice run in the NCAA Tournament. It was fairly shocking last season, but this year would be even more surprising to see that happen. The season wasn't a complete disaster, but the team has looked terrible since February began. They've played 10 games since February 3rd and they are just 1-9 in those games, losing nine straight games. Their last good win was over Clemson in January as they won on their home floor 95-82. It is a bit surprising that the team is struggling as badly as they are. They have a good interior presence with Norchad Omier dropping 17 points per game and almost 10 rebounds as well. Even their backcourt is fairly solid with a few guards that are decent shooters, and combining to average over 30 points per game. The problem is that the six players that are averaging the most amount of minutes in the game are also turning the ball over frequently. Their defense is just not stopping anyone either. They need to find a way to lock in on that end if they are going to have any hope in this game. They've also lost to Boston College twice this season, once at home and once on the road. Will they hit the trifecta and lose on a neutral court as well?

Boston College is better than Miami this season, but it isn't by much. They also struggled in the ACC with a 8-12 conference record, but they are 17-14 overall on the year. Over their past 10 games, Boston College is just 4-6, and they only beat two teams for their four wins. They took down Louisville and Miami on their home court in back-to-back games, lost four games, then beat Miami and Louisville on the road to close out the season. The games against Miami were close, but they weren't one-score games. They won the first game by eight points, and the second one they won by 10. Boston College had four players score in double figures in the first game, and outrebounded the Hurricanes by 10. They still allowed 40 points to Omier and Matthew Cleveland, but they managed to make it work and escape with a win. In the second game Boston College was losing at halftime before they started to dominate in the second half winning the half by 14 points. They held Omier in check in the second game, but their offense wasn't exactly explosive either. The game was much closer overall, but the Hurricanes had a bad shooting performance.

Beating a team is hard to do twice in a season, and beating a team three times can be very difficult, but I think that's what we will get from Boston College tonight. How are you supposed to back a Miami team that has lost nine straight games. If they had lost nine straight road games, I could see this being a worthwhile play, but nine games overall means they aren't playing well anywhere. I don't know if you need to even take the points in this one, but feel free. I'm going to take the moneyline at +110 for Boston College.
