49ers-Vikings Monday Night Football In Week 7 Will Be Another Primetime Snoozer

Maybe this is too easy but I don't see how anyone can bet the Over in this game. The Minnesota Vikings (2-4) host the San Francisco 49ers (5-1) for Monday Night Football to wrap up Week 7. As of Monday morning, the 49ers are -6.5 favorites at PointsBet and the total is set at 43 (-110).

First of all, the public loves betting Overs in primetime games so it's wise to instinctually look at the Under here. This season, primetime games are 7-15-1 Over/Under (O/U). The 49ers are 2-10 O/U in their last 12 primetime games with a -8.6 O/U margin.

San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings Week 7

Both teams are missing key offensive players. The Vikings will be without reigning Offensive Player of the Year WR Justin Jefferson. Whereas Niners will be missing dual-threat WR Deebo Samuel and All-Pro LT Trent Williams Monday.

In Week 6, the Vikings had their worst offensive performance of the season in a 19-13 win at the Chicago Bears with 220 total yards. The same goes for the 49ers who racked up just 215 total yards last week against the Cleveland Browns.

San Francisco has the highest rushing rate in the NFL and Minnesota's defense is 9th in yards per rush allowed. The Niners are less willing to push the ball down field if they don't need to. Since Jefferson is out, San Francisco will save its "good plays" for the Cincinnati Bengals next week.

Furthermore, the Vikings are 1-5 O/U this season with a -4.3 O/U margin. Minnesota struggles to keep the chains moving (26th in 3rd-down conversion rate) and capitalize on scoring opportunities (18th in red zone scoring rate).

Essentially, I'm predicting stalled out drives for the Vikings and a blah offensive gameplan from the 49ers. The market is betting this as well. According to Pro Football Focus, most of the money is on the Over but the total has fallen from 44 down to 43.

My prediction: 49ers 23, Vikings 17
