Auburn Eliminates Two Candidates From Coaching Search

Auburn is trying to figure out who is going to lead its football program. It's been a wild ride with a lot of twists and turns, but we now know two candidates who are no longer being considered.

According to a tweet from Dennis Dodd with CBS Sports, the Tigers will not hire defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. This may come as a shock considering he was the frontrunner, but the #StopTheSteele campaign by fans was seemingly effective.

The second candidate may also come as a shock. Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is off the table after he didn't interview for the job over that weekend. That news comes from Nathan King at Auburn Undercover.

So, who remains on the list? Well, UAB's Bill Clark and West Virginia's Neal Brown are still candidates, as are several others. But the frontrunner right now appears to be Louisiana head coach Billy Napier, another former Nick Saban assistant.
