A Record Breaking Day For Tyler Badie Wasn't Enough For Missouri To Knock Off Arkansas

It was a big game for Arkansas. Coming off the hard fought outing against Alabama last week, the Razorbacks were looking to grab their eighth win of the season. As for Missouri, well, the Tigers were coming off a nice win over Florida, hoping to secure their seventh win of the season. Turns out, the Hogs were the story of the day, and most importantly, K.J. Jefferson, as the Razorbacks won 34-15.

After a nice game against Alabama, Jefferson came out strong against the Tigers, finishing the day 15 of 19 for 262 yards and one touchdown. K.J. also ran for 58 yards, causing the Missouri defense multiple problems trying to figure out how to stop the big play Razorbacks. For the sixth time this season, Treylon Burks was the focal point on offense for Jefferson, as Burks recorded 129 yards receiving, on seven receptions, for one TD. If you thought the Missouri defense would come out in the secind half playing inspired football, Arkansas quickly put those hopes to bed.

This was another game where we had no idea what we were getting from Missouri on offense, besides from Tyler Badie, who is always consistent. Badie rushed for 219 yards against the Razorback defense, breaking tackles and finding wiggle room between the Arkansas defensive line. If the Tigers did not have Badie, this team would be absolutely horrendous, especially with their inability to consistently pass the ball.

For most of the preseason, Connor Bazelak was looked upon as one of the top quarterbacks in the conference, but his play has said otherwise this season. Bazelak has had to rely on Badie too much this season, which has come back to hurt the Tigers against a multiple look defense.

It wasn't the worst night for Missouri, as Tyler Badie set a program record with his fifth game with 200 yards rushing. It was a remarkable performance, as he scored the Tigers only touchdown on the day, after running the ball 41 times. He also set the single season rushing record, with 1,579 yards, breaking a 23-year record.

It also was an amazing year for Arkansas, as the Hogs finish with eight wins for the first time since 2011. The four SEC wins are the same combined win total from the Chad Morris and Bret Bielema's final two years. This will make it the third "Trophy Game" that the Razorbacks have won this season.

As for Missouri, they will be going to a bowl game, which is a very nice accomplishment for Eli Drinkwitz. The Tigers were full of ups and downs for most of the season, so getting to spend the next month practicing and playing one more game is a nice consolation prize.

But today, it was their inability to stop the big plays that have plagued the Tigers all season long. They'll need to figure out the future of the quarterback position and how to fix this defense, but this should be viewed as a better than expected season for the Tigers. Especially starting off the season with losses to Kentucky and Boston College.

For Sam Pittman, he just keeps plugging away and putting inspired teams on the field. There's no other way to put it, Arkansas has exceeded expectations and the future looks bright in Fayetteville.
