Danette ‘McLovin’ Leaving ‘Dan Patrick Show’

Dan Patrick sits comfortably on the Mount Rushmore of sportscasters. He has hosted SportsCenter, handed out the Lombardi Trophy, anchored the Olympics, and opened the door for others to leave ESPN and actually grow their careers. Yet what is most admirable about Patrick is what he has done for those who have helped him.

While most hosts belittle their producers, Patrick made his four producers — known as the Danettes — a focal point of his radio and video show. While called the Dan Patrick Show, Patrick reminds listeners each hour it’s “Dan and the Danettes.”

Now, 12 years later, one of the Danettes is headed to host his own nationally syndicated radio show. Friday, Patrick announced that Andrew Perloff, known on the show as “McLovin,” will leave the Dan Patrick Show and host a new weekday afternoon program with Maggie Gray on CBS Sports Radio.

Here’s the announcement:

Perloff and Gray will air weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET on 300 stations beginning January 3.

Perloff will make his final appearance with Patrick and the Danettes on December 23. Patrick did not say whether the show will replace Perloff’s seat but did say he can’t replace what Perloff has brought to the show.

“I can’t replace that. I don’t want to replace that,” Patrick concludes.
