Week 8 Betting Lines Released For The Coming SEC Weekend

It will be hard to top some of the games we witnessed this past weekend, but the SEC will give it a shot next Saturday, though with a pretty mediocre set of games. We will get only four conference games this week, since several teams will be enjoying a bye week.

Arkansas Pine-Bluff @ Arkansas ( -51.5 )

The Razorbacks are coming off their third straight loss and looking to get back on the winning side of things. This shouldn't be much of a challenge, as Pine-Bluff comes into the game 1-4 on the season. The Razorbacks rushed for 232 yards and passed for 228 yards in the 38-23 loss against Auburn. This should be a good game for K.J. Jefferson to get back on track with the offense, while Barry Odom gets his defense under control. Arkansas started off hot, but this three-game losing streak has taken a toll on the team. We will see how motivated this team is this week, so keep checking the betting line.

 

LSU @ Ole Miss (-10.5)

Well, we are officially on the Ed Orgeron farewell tour, as the head coach will be out at LSU after the season. Though his team beat Florida 49-42 on Saturday, it was announced on Sunday afternoon that this will be his last season in Baton Rouge. We will see how this team responds to the news of his upcoming departure next Saturday. They played particularly well against the Gators, so momentum is on their side.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss hung on in Knoxville, defeating Tennessee 31-26 in a crazy game that included a 20-minute delay for trash on the field. Matt Corral continues to impress, racking up 195 yards on the ground and 231 yards through the air. If he can keep producing these type of numbers, I don't see why Ole Miss can't take care of the Tigers' defense this weekend.

Mississippi State (-23.5) @ Vanderbilt 

Give Vanderbilt the credit they deserve, they played South Carolina to the end on Saturday. I didn't think the Dores had a chance in this game, especially without their starting QB. But the Gamecocks had to drive the field with under a minute to play to take the lead.

As for Mississippi State, they are coming off a 49-9 loss to Alabama in which they rushed for -1 yards total. Yes, this offense mainly passes the ball, as you could tell by the 55 passing attempts, but they have to be better on the ground if they want to win in this conference. I don't know if the Bulldogs are 23.5 points better than Vanderbilt at this point in the season, but we're about to find out. The Dores have a bit of spirit in them at the moment after their gutsy performance on Saturday, so be careful with this line.

Tennessee @ Alabama (-27.5)

This Tennessee football team put up one hell of a fight against Ole Miss and had multiple opportunities in the 4th quarter to take the lead. But they also came away with many injured players, which prompts some questions. How is Hendon Hooker recovering from the injury in the 4th? Can the Vols piece together an offensive line to face the Crimson Tide? These are all questions the Vols must figure out this week, if they are going to have a chance to hang with Alabama.

The Tide are coming off a 49-9 beatdown of Mississippi State. They made a statement after the loss to Texas A&M, passing for 348 yards and rushing for 195 yards. This will be a struggle for Tennessee, who just aren't healthy at the moment, so bet with your head on this one. The Vols still have some explosiveness on offense, just probably not enough for this game.

South Carolina @ Texas A&M (-18.5)

The Aggies are coming off a game against Missouri in which they rushed for 283 yards and destroyed the Tigers' horrible defensive line. Zach Calzada needed only 148 yards through the air, as the rushing attack took care of business. Jimbo Fisher has his team playing pretty good football at the moment, and I don't expect that to stop this weekend.

South Carolina survived the upset attempt by Vanderbilt, winning 21-20 in the final minute. The Gamecocks passed for 317 yards, but only rushed for 117 yards against a pretty bad Vandy defensive line. This game should not be a problem for the Aggies, as Shane Beamer is still trying to figure things out in Columbia. This is one betting line that actually makes me want to throw some money down.
