SEC Commish Greg Sankey: It's 'Past Time' for Mississippi to Change State Flag

On Thursday night, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey released a statement that said it was "past time" for Mississippi to change their state flag, which has the Confederate flag in it. He threatened that the conference would potentially withhold future championship level events if this did not happen. Here is the full statement:

We are not sure if there have been any SEC championship events in Mississippi recently, but their two biggest sports do not have their title games there. Men's basketball is in Nashville, and football is in Atlanta (the Georgia state flag also has Confederate imagery).

After Sankey's statement, Mississippi State AD John Cohen and Ole Miss Chancellor Glenn Boyce and Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter released statements of their own:
