SEC Basketball Media Days Will Be Held Virtually This Year
The Southeastern Conference announced on Tuesday that the upcoming SEC media days for college basketball will be held virtually. This might come as a slight surprise to folks, since the conference held in-person media days for football.
This year's media days will be held over a number of days on the SEC Network, with coaches and players appearing on different shows to promote their school.
The SEC released a statement, saying, "Due to ongoing public health concerns related to indoor venues, the Southeastern Conference will conduct a virtual basketball media days event prior to the 2021-22 season.
"In conjunction with SEC Network, the conference will present media days in a virtual format, branded as 'SEC Media Days – Build Up 2 Basketball.' From October 18 – 29, every coach and select student-athletes will be interviewed on existing programming such as SEC Now, The Paul Finebaum Show, SEC This AM and Out of Pocket. The schedule for these appearances will be sent to media, as well as provided on SECSports.com and SEC social media channels."
The SEC also announced in their statement that each team from both the women's and men's side will hold a Zoom session that will be scheduled for sometime between October 18th and November 5th. Those sessions will include interviews with head coaches and players.
The conference just held their in-person media days for football in Hoover, AL this past July.
