Outkick's College Football Gambling Picks For Week 9 2021
Last week was a 4-10 disaster, there's no way to defend it. We just have to put it behind us and move forward. I will say, however, that we got off to a rough start when we had the over in Coastal Carolina and App State on Thursday night and there were only three points scored in the entire fourth quarter of a game that had 54 scored in the first three quarters. I thought we were going to hit the over before we even got to the fourth quarter and the wheels never really got put back on last week.
Our season total is now a middling 48-47 on the year.
But it's time for a monster rebound this week.
Good news in the sports gambling universe, by the way, Louisiana is poised to go live with online sports gambling soon. You get $100 just for signing up in Louisiana. If new users bet $5 on a touchdown to be scored in Cowboys-Vikings you get back $125, that's a 25-1 payday. So get your bets in there.
I've been down in Houston all week with my 11 year old for the World Series -- and am about to jump on my fight to Jacksonville for the Florida-Georgia game this weekend -- so I've put all my picks both college and NFL -- along with Todd Fuhrman and mine's show, The Fade, in today's gambling picks column. Apologies for being a day late with the picks this week, but here we go with college football up first:
We're going 8-0!
Troy at Coastal Carolina -17
Jamey Chadwell's crew bounces back from a tough road loss in a big way, winning by twenty or more with ease.
And potentially covering for you in the first half.
Hop on the Coastal express.
Michigan at Michigan State +4.5
I'm continuing to ride the Mel Tucker express in this battle of unbeaten teams that no one would have foreseen coming. Crazy stat, this is the first time since 1964 that both teams have been ranked in the top ten.
Give me the Spartans to cover -- and maybe win outright.
Iowa at Wisconsin the over 36.5
This is the lowest under in college football history.*
*This might not be true, but it seems like it's true.
So I'm taking the over on principle.
Georgia at Florida, the over 50.5
The good? AR 15 is good for 21 points against Georgia this weekend. The bad? AR 15 is good for 14 points for the Georgia defense this weekend.
The result?
A points explosion!
Or at least a 35-21 Bulldog win.
Kentucky at Mississippi State, pick 'em and the under 46.5
I think Mike Leach's team knocks off Kentucky -- remember the Bulldogs have won five straight in Starkville in this series -- and the two defenses come to play in the process.
The final?
Mississippi State 21-17.
Mike Leach celebrates with a candy corn bonfire at midfield.
Ole Miss +3 at Auburn
This is a nervous bet in favor of Lane Kiffin and Matt Corral to continue their roll on offense.
Ultimately I just can't justify taking Bo Nix and the points in this situation.
Hotty Toddy, Ole Miss covers -- and wins -- on the Plains.
Penn State +18.5 at Ohio State
I know the Buckeyes are playing out of their mind right now and Penn State just lost to Illinois in nine overtimes, but this line feels way too high given what's typically transpired between Penn State and Ohio State.
The last five years in this series have all been decided by 13 or less and I think this Penn State defense is pretty stout meaning 18.5 is a big number.
Which means the big question is can the Nittany Lion offense score?
Here's a bet they can at least score enough to cover this big of a number.
...
Now the NFL six pack, which, thankfully, has been much better this year than the college picks going 25-18 so far on the year.
Packers at Cardinals -6.5
Giants at Chiefs -10
Titans at Colts -1
Washington at Denver, the under 44.5
Tampa Bay -5.5 at the Saints
Cowboys -1.5 at Vikings
Okay, there you have it, get rich kids, I'm off for the Cocktail Party.
We'll be broadcasting live with the Outkick Bus Tour on Saturday from 10 am to 12 et in the parking lot of the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium as part of the Big Noon Kickoff on Fox. And the Outkick Tailgate Show will be live from 9 am to 12 et as well.
