Oklahoma State President Says There Are 'Too Many Unknowns' When It Comes To Bedlam Rivalry

One of the biggest rivalries in college football is in jeopardy with the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns leaving the Big 12 for the SEC.

The Bedlam rivalry between Oklahoma State and OU dates back to 1904 with OSU’s first football victory over the Sooners coming as a 9-0 win in 1917, according to OSU's website.

Oklahoma State’s new president Kayse Shrum, who just stepped into her role within the last few weeks, is being tested with the possible conference realignment.

Shrum offered her thoughts on the rivalry and the school's commitment to the Big 12.

“Many have asked about the future of Bedlam,” she wrote on Twitter. “We enjoy the intensity and tradition whenever we play OU in any sport. Right now, there are too many unknowns to determine what the future holds.”

Last week, Shrum said that Oklahoma “followed” Texas to the SEC and she has continued to point out the lack of loyalty to the state by Oklahoma.

Shrum’s statement on Bedlam comes days after Oklahoma President Joseph Harroz said at the meeting on Friday: “Make no mistake, we want the Bedlam rivalry to continue.”

Oklahoma has won the Bedlam rivalry for six straight years and has won 16 of the last 18 meetings between the two schools, dating back to the 2003 season. The Cowboys won the game in 2011 and 2014. Oklahoma leads the series 90-18-7.

Although it's not known where the rivalry stands, we'll see what this all means for Bedlam as more unfolds in the future.
