The two schools that have won the past two College Football Playoff National Championship Games will be featured in the second semifinal on January 1 – the Sugar Bowl – and they also happen to be the top two favorites to win the title at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers have squared off in the biggest game of the season each of the last two years, and the winner of this year’s matchup figures to be favored against whoever they play next.

Alabama is a slight +190 favorite (bet $100 to win $190) to take home the championship over Clemson (+250), with the Oklahoma Sooners and Georgia Bulldogs both sitting at +333. The Sooners will meet the Bulldogs in the first semifinal in the Rose Bowl, and they also have experience in the CFP after making their first appearance two years ago with Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield and losing to the Tigers in this round.

The Crimson Tide have made it to the CFP in all four years, falling in the 2014-15 semifinals to the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes before going a step further the next two seasons. Alabama topped Clemson 45-40 two years ago for the national title before losing 35-31 in the CFP National Championship Game last season.

The Tigers covered the spread in each meeting, and they have also beaten the number in four straight overall.

The Bulldogs are the wild card in this year’s field as newcomers to the CFP. Led by freshman quarterback Jake Fromm and senior running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, Georgia won the SEC Championship Game in a rematch with the Auburn Tigers after losing to them earlier in the season. The Bulldogs have an outstanding defense with one of the nation’s best secondaries that should test Mayfield and the rest of Oklahoma’s offense.

The Sooners are expected to have leading rusher Rodney Anderson available after he was not charged in a rape investigation. The sophomore totaled 960 rushing yards, 283 receiving yards and scored 16 touchdowns this year.
