Non-Vaccinated Students At Quinnipiac University To Be Fined

Students at Quinnipiac University are waking up Thursday to an odd reality, one where their pocketbooks will be hit if they do not carry the proper info regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.

The University announced on Wednesday that students who have not been vaccinated will have to eat a fine and that students who decline the vaccination will also lose Quinnipiac campus network and Wi-Fi privileges, a steep price to pay for not taking the controversial jab.

The fine could reach up to $2,275 for the semester, and the fines for students could come weekly if they miss a test.

Right now, officials at the school are looking to see which students have yet to prove their vaccination status to the staff. They say, as of now, about 600 students have missed the deadline to upload their COVID-19 vaccination information.

Students will have the chance to get the vaccination before getting hit hard with the $2,000+ fine.

Any student who doesn't get the vaccine or show proof of it will be assessed a fee starting at $100 per week each of the first two weeks of the semester. The fee will increase by $25 every two weeks up to a maximum of $200 per week.

As long as students get one of the two-shot vaccinations by the 25th of August, they will not be charged. However, they must be fully vaccinated by the middle of September.
