Mary Trump's Tell-All Book Had Record-Setting First Day Sales
Mary Trump’s tell-all on President Donald Trump sold 950,000 copies on its first day of release this week, publisher Simon & Schuster said.
The first day sales for “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man" is a record for the publisher. The total includes pre-sales, e-books, and audiobooks.
The staggering amount is already crushing former national security adviser John Bolton’s tell-all on Trump, which sold 780,000 copies in the first week.
Mary Trump's memoir topped Bob Woodward's first day sales of 900,000 for the 2018 "Fear: Trump in the White House."
It should surpass the 1.7 million copies Michael Wolff's 2018 "Fire & Fury" sold in the first month.
Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, is the daughter of the president’s brother Fred Trump, Jr. who died in 1981.
In June, Robert Trump, the president’s younger brother, filed a legal action to stop the book’s release citing Mary's nondisclosure agreement she signed in 2001 in a settlement over her inheritance. A New York judge allowed its release. The book was released Tuesday, two weeks earlier than originally scheduled.
Kayleigh McEnany, White House press secretary, Thursday called the memoir a “book of falsehoods, plain and simple."
