Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops Receives Contract Extension After Vanderbilt Win

Man, you have to love these college football contracts, and Kentucky's Mark Stoops really has to love the work his agent put in for his, especially after this past weekend.

The Wildcats defeated Vanderbilt 34-17 in Nashville on Saturday, which triggered a clause in his contract that extends him for another season. In his contract, it is stated that he gets an automatic one-year extension if he wins seven games.

According to Steve Berkowitz of USA Today, Stoops’ contract now runs through June 2027. The additional year will pay him $6.5 million with $4.875 million of that guaranteed.

And that's not the only good news for Stoops when it comes to money. If the Wildcats get to nine wins, he will also receive a $250,000 bonus. This shouldn't be a problem for Kentucky, as they play New Mexico State and Louisville to wrap up the regular season.

Even though the Wildcats went through a tough three-game losing streak, they got back on the winning side of things against the Dores and are now looking to finish the season 9-3.

So, congratulations to Mark Stoops. He should make some nice money to end the season, while also having him setup for the future, depending on whether he's at Kentucky through 2027.
