Johnny Manziel vs. President Obama, Who's More Popular Online?
While it may be hard to believe, no one knew who Johnny Manziel was just 18 months ago. You remember 18 months ago, right? Way back in September of 2012 when the world was young. It was a different time, one in which a guy by the name of Barack Obama was narrowing in on his Presidential reelection and a redshirt freshman quarterback at Texas A&M named Johnny Manziel was virtually anonymous.
I'm always intrigued by Google analytics data, but I never thought to compare the search interest for President Obama and Johnny Manziel. Primarily, I suppose, because I assumed that the President would, you know, dwarf searches for Johnny Manziel. A reader, Beau J., sent me the Google search data for "Johnny Manziel" and "Johnny Football" and compared it with searches for "President Obama" and "Barack Obama."
The results are outstanding.
Aside from a solid bounce when he was reelected President of the United States, most of America is more interested in Johnny Manziel. Especially since the summer of 2013, when Manziel's fame went into a new stratosphere. Thanks for covering that autograph scandal ESPN, it just made Manziel more famous.
Not suprisingly, this can be really addictive. What about searches for President Obama vs. Kate Upton?
Oh. My. Goodness.
You're all perverts, America.
