Gov. Whitmer Breaks Mandate, Goes Maskless in DC Bar
If we took you back one year ago, you might remember there was a debate about which governor handled the pandemic the worst. Despite what 60 Minutes told us, it was not Ron DeSantis of Florida but a three-way race between Andrew Cuomo of New York, Gavin Newsom of California, and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. Because of Cuomo's nursing home cover-up and Newsom's ineptitude, Whitmer finished third. As in third-worst. Good for her.
Since lifting lockdowns, Whitmer has been quiet. And while she isn't demanding Michiganders stay in their yards anymore, it appears her demeanor hasn't changed much. Photos from Tuesday show that Whitmer is the same power-hungry, hypocritical elitist she was last year.
This week, Whitmer traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe. Last night, people recorded videos of Whitmer at a Hotel Washington bar without her mask.
Hotel Washington policy states, "individuals should be wearing a mask at the bar when they are not actively eating or drinking." In the meantime, Whitmer also broke Mayor Muriel Bowser's indoor mask mandate. Remember, she can do that. You can't.
Whitmer's timing is also of note, as residents in Benton Harbor, Mich., a predominately black city, deal with a contaminated water supply due to lead pipes. Though why should that stop Whitmer from partying?
See, someone of Whitmer's status doesn't have rules. She doesn't need them. That's why she has routinely violated her own COVID policies. Though she apologizes, she never flouts her own decrees by accident. She does it on purpose whenever it personally suits her. Because she can.
That said, hopefully, you followed her commands, including her notable mandate to remove the license of any company not complying with her policies. Those small-business owners were selfish. Or something.
It'd be worth studying one day whether all people given an arm of power are this mediocre or whether D.C. simply attracts this type of person.
