Exclusive: Senator Marsha Blackburn Blasts Joe Biden, Miguel Cardona Over Title IX Changes Targeting Women

Senator Marsha Blackburn, R-Tn. has attacked the changes to Title IX by President Joe Biden and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona in a new letter, OutKick can exclusively reveal.

The Biden administration announced a series of sweeping changes to Title IX guidelines that have received widespread criticism for its treatment of "gender identity." This new interpretation now means that the definition of sex discrimination has been expanded to include "gender identity" as well as sexual orientation. 

The change gives the green light to male transgender athletes or individuals to occupy spaces and athletic competitions that have been limited to females, while giving them Title IX protection against administrators or officials hoping to protect women. Senator Blackburn is one of the Republican politicians taking a stand against the Biden administration's overreach and anti-women stance. 

As her letter explains, "Since your administration took office, you have been intent on erasing the contributions of women and girls across this country, going so far as to nominate a Supreme Court Justice who could not even define the word "woman."… The Biden administration’s reinterpretation of sex discrimination to include "gender identity" and "sex characteristics" represents a blatant misreading of Title IX and a patent disregard for the original understanding of sex held by those who authored the amendment."

The Biden administration has been relentless in erasing women through a commitment to unquestioning acceptance of transgender activism. And it's culminated in undermining the spirit of Title IX and exposing women and female athletes to potential harm.

Senator Blackburn Calls Out Biden's Anti-Women Changes

The letter also explains how the incursion of transgender athletes into educational programs and athletic activities has parents concerned about their daughters' futures. 

"Sadly, today, countless Americans fear for the safety and equality of their daughters in educational programs and activities because of the reinterpretation of Title IX that your administration continues to pursue," it reads.

The Title IX changes will only make these fears worse, with Biden and Cardona openly siding with the wishes of transgender activists over the safety and future opportunities of young girls and women. 

It's vital that the administration see how unpopular and potentially dangerous these changes are, with even well known female athletes expressing their support with protecting women's sports.

Senator Blackburn's letter is yet another important step toward holding the Biden administration accountable for their inexcusable actions.
