Analyst Emmanuel Acho Makes Inaccurate Claims About Charlie Kirk On Social Media, Refuses To Correct It

Former NFL player refuses to correct misinformation about Kirk in viral TikTok video

Emmanuel Acho has joined the chorus of uninformed voices spreading misinformation about Charlie Kirk.

Acho, like so many others, melted down after Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday. Instead of issuing a clear, concise statement condemning the murder without making disparaging remarks, he couldn't help himself. While his video started out as you'd hope, expressing sympathy for those who knew Kirk, his family, and those impacted by the shooting, it quickly devolved into blaming the victim. Of course.

"But Charlie Kirk, he proudly stated that death by guns is a price we have to pay for our second amendment rights, and he said that it was worth it. And so, I've been torn…because at times it almost feels like me mourning his death by gun is the opposite of what he stood for, is the opposite of what he said, is the opposite of what he believed."

So it's hard to "mourn" someone's murder because he defended the second amendment? Acho apparently has no idea how offensive and ridiculous that "logic" is. And as Kirk explained, which Acho even acknowledges, we accept all sorts of negative outcomes in order to achieve positive ones, because that's how trade-offs work. His "argument" implies that anyone who dies in a car accident after publicly supporting driving does not deserve to be mourned. It's moronic.

But he wasn't done there.

Emmanuel Acho Doesn't Want To be Corrected

Acho then took to TikTok to label Charlie Kirk a racist, saying that it's reasonable for him or other black people to refuse to mourn his life. One of his first examples, is, of course, a lie.

In the video, Acho starts by sharing a clip of Charlie Kirk calling out to Cenk Uygur, a left-wing commentator. Cenk's first name sounds similar to a racial slur for Chinese people. And because Acho had no idea what he's talking about, he assumed that Kirk was saying the racial slur.

He then goes on to misinterpret what Kirk said about the reasonable concerns that diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives create. As well as another misinterpretation about Kirk's comments about Michelle Obama and Ketanji Brown-Jackson. Obama, in 2023, said she "sometimes wondered if people thought I got there because of affirmative action," which is what Kirk was referring to.

After it was pointed out, repeatedly, that Acho had misheard the remark, particularly about Cenk Uygur, he did nothing to correct it. Because he doesn't want to. Pretty inexcusable and all too predictable.
