Ed Orgeron Named As A Defendant In Title IX Lawsuit

An updated Title IX lawsuit against LSU is big news in the college football world as Ed Orgeron has been named as a defendant for allegedly failing to report a rape allegation made against former Tiger standout Derrius Guice, and the amended lawsuit includes details of a rape allegedly committed by former Tigers quarterback Peter Parrish.

Saturday Down South reports the updated complaint adds to allegations against Guice — who is referred to as John Doe in the suit — and mentions that the woman attached to the John Doe allegations have publicly accused the former LSU running back.

Saturday Down South reports Parrish signed with LSU in the 2019 recruiting class and is a native of Phenix City, Alabama — he did not see the field for LSU in the 2019 season and transferred to Memphis in August 2020.

The Guice incident wasn’t the only allegation against a former LSU football player added to the suit originally filed in April by a group of seven current and former LSU students.

Guice’s alleged rape of Ashlyn Robertson was first reported in a USA TODAY investigation in 2020. Orgeron released a statement last year after the USA TODAY article:

“The anonymous quote attributed to me by a former player in USA Today is not accurate,” Orgeron said in his released statement. “Out of respect for the young man’s privacy, I will not reveal the full details of the conversation. What I will say is that a player came into my office to discuss transferring from our program. We also discussed the player’s relationship challenges with his girlfriend. I told him what I would tell my own sons: ‘We all experience heartbreak growing up. Do not throw away a promising academic and football career at LSU because of a personal obstacle.’ Any insinuation that I had knowledge of his girlfriend and Derrius Guice is completely false.”
