Canadian Ronald McDonald House To Evict Family Of 4-Year-Old Patient Over Vaccine Mandate

The family of a 4-year-old boy leukemia patient who is staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver, Canada says they've received notice they'll be evicted from the facility if they cannot provide proof that they're vaccinated.

Tuesday, the boy's father, Austin Furgason, posted a Facebook video showing a letter he received - OutKick has contacted the Ronald McDonald representative listed on the letter and is awaiting comment -- notifying parents that the facility will be requiring vaccine passports starting January 17 for those over 5 years old to visit or stay at the facility. Workers will also be required to be vaccinated.

The 4-year-old boy has been staying at the facility since October when he was diagnosed with leukemia, according to Furgason's Facebook account. Now the unvaccinated parents are faced with the decision to get vaccinated or stand their ground and leave.

"Beginning January 17, 2022, everyone five years and older who are working, staying or visiting our facilities (both the House at 4567 Heather St. Vancouver and at the Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital) must show proof of full vaccination (two doses), in addition to completing our existing screening, unless an Accommodation has been sought and has been explicitly approved and granted by RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities) in writing," Leslie Louie, Ronald McDonald House Senior Director of Family Services, writes in the notice.

Families currently residing at the facility will have until January 31 to get their first dose.

"We continue to restrict access to the House and are practicing COVID –19 safety protocols including: screening, temperature checks, physical distancing, enhanced cleaning protocols and mandatory mask-wearing in all common spaces," Louie continues in her letter. "All guests and visitors to the House must show proof of full vaccination against COVID –19. These measures in addition to an abundance of sanitizer and kindness will help us ensure the safety of everyone at the House."

Furgason called the decision handed down by the Ronald McDonald House "wicked and vile."

"The Covid cult is far more dangerous then Covid. If they will evict families with cancer, what won’t they do," he wrote on Facebook.

In an interview with True North, Furgason explained why this decision has been yet another kick in the gut since learning his son's diagnosis in October.

“No matter what people’s beliefs are, everyone donates to this place because everyone wants to save dying kids,” he told True North. “If there was anything left to unite our country, this would have been it. And still, they find a way to segregate us and divide us even more.”

“I’m broken inside for our country just how fast this has accelerated.”
