Braves Beat Dodgers 5-1 In Game 1 Of NLCS
The Atlanta Braves have defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 to take a 1-0 series lead in the NLCS. This game comes as a bit of a surprise, as the entire Fox Sports crew has L.A. winning the series.
Both starters in Max Fried (ATL) and Walker Buehler (LA) dominated tonight's game, giving up just one-run each, so this game came down to the bullpen. Atlanta showed they're more than an offensive unit as their bullpen threw three perfect innings. If the Braves can learn to finish games, National League opponents are in trouble.
Game 1 began with Freddie Freeman launching a ball deep into right field with fans in the stands. (I've been waiting a long time to say that.)
Dodgers' Kike Hernandez tied the game in the bottom half of the 5th.
Atlanta finally separated themselves as Austin Riley hit a go-ahead homer in the top of the 9th off hard-throwing Dodger Blake Treinen.
ATL tacked on another three runs on a Marcell Ozuna RBI single and a 2-run homer from second baseman Ozzie Albies. The Braves are ready to finally cash in, as they haven't won a World Series title since 1995. Atlanta fans know not to get ahead of themselves with leads, so we'll be watching this series closely.
