Bad News For Cowboys, Tyron Smith Could Be Out All Season

Dallas Cowboys star left tackle Tyron Smith might be out for the season due to setbacks with a neck injury. The team is now considering placing Smith on the injured reserve and that could place more workload on Dak Prescott. Dak could leverage this extra responsibility into a monster contract.

"Gathering medical opinions" are never a good sign for athletes. They usually mean that they're weighing their options to avoid the inevitable bad news of being out all year. It's always heartbreaking when athletes who work their whole lives to play have one bad moment, and their season is gone.

Football-wise Dak Prescott has an exposed blindside and judging off of this season's results, he needs all the help he can get. It's not everyday when a quarterback throws for over 500 yards and can't win a football game. Most of those yards came against a prevent defense, but his teammates still need to be better.

Rumors before the season were that Dallas wanted to move on from Smith largely because of his 8-year, $97.6 million contract. A season-ending neck injury might force them to move on from the pro-bowler and relocate that cashflow to Dak. Luckily for Tyron Smith, over $22 million of that contract is guaranteed.

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the lightest schedules in the NFL that includes the NY Giants, AZ Cardinals, Washington, and Philly. Let's be honest. They don't need a pro-bowl tackle to beat some of those squads.
