2012 Recruiting: SEC Class Rankings

Most teams have solidified the bulk of their recruiting classes, and as the final faxes roll in, we've taken a look at the best classes in the best conference in college football. With no more major surprises expected, here's a look at OKTC's final 2012 SEC recruiting rankings.

1. Alabama - The Tide have signed a near-consensus national No. 1 class this year. You know things are rolling when you simply don't have room for guys like Kwon Alexander and Justin Taylor.

2. Florida - The Gators closed with a flurry and cashed in on a lot of local prospects, stealing Dante Fowler from rival Florida State today.

3. Georgia - Georgia reeled in an amazing class full of stars. Being third on this list is no shame - in other years, this class may have been at the top.

4. LSU - It was a "down" year for LSU. Given that this is still a top 10 national class, that's a relative term, of course.

5. Texas A&M - The Aggies will fit right in with their new brothers in the West if they continue to recruit at this level.

6. South Carolina - Headliners and quality depth make up this class in Columbia. Talent abounds at many positions.

7. Auburn - Auburn's recruited well over the past two years, and this class meets a lot of needs, but Signing Day was a bit of a disappointment for AU until Avery Young pledged to the Tigers. Still, the class leaves a bit to be desired.

8. Tennessee - Overall, this group sort of has a "win some, lose some" feel to it. The Vols couldn't hang on to some commitments but also landed a surprise or two. Given the amount of turnover and other issues around the program right now, this was a ceiling for this class.

9. Mississippi State - A solid DL class helps keep State afloat this year. It's a solid set of players, but you have to be more than slightly above average to find yourself on the top half of this list.

10. Arkansas - See Mississippi State. It's a group you can win with, but it lags behind its competition significantly.

11. Vanderbilt - That Vanderbilt is anywhere other than #14 on this list tells you everything you need to know about the job James Franklin is doing in Music City.

12. Missouri - Dorial Green-Beckham - the biggest fish in the sea - jumped into the boat this morning. With the rest of this class, though, there's no need for Gary Pinkel to need a bigger boat.

13. Kentucky - Justin Taylor was a nice pick-up today, but trending behind most of the conference means more of the same for Big Blue.

14. Ole Miss - Huge Freeze needs a full year to get things rolling on the recruiting trail. Ed Orgeron ain't walking back through that door, folks.
