Alabama Professor Shares Amazing Story About DeVonta Smith

DeVonta Smith became the first wide receiver in SEC history to win the Heisman Trophy on Tuesday night. That prestigious award was earned on the field, but Smith makes an impact off it too.

Soon after he was awarded the trophy, a professor at the University of Alabama shared an amazing story on Facebook. She spoke of Smith's attentiveness as a student, but she also brought up what he did for her.

"I am honored that I got to be his teacher," Neika Morgan shared in her Facebook post. "But even more so, I am thankful I got the opportunity to learn a little bit about his heart."

Morgan went on to tell the story of how she always wanted to stand on the sidelines during a game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Smith took that wish to heart, and when he won Student Athlete of the Week, he used it as an opportunity to make it happen for Morgan.

When you win the weekly award, you are allowed to choose one professor to stand on the sidelines for pre-game activities. Of course, Smith chose Morgan. He also wrote her a handwritten letter to thank her.

"Thank you for everything you do for me and for all the students in the class," Smith wrote. "You have made the class really interesting. Hope you enjoy your sideline experience."

What an awesome gesture by the star receiver. It is something that his professor is never going to forget.
