An hour after Derek Chauvin was convicted of the murder of George Floyd, riots began in Portland. Though it was ostensibly the verdict they wanted, the rioters wasted no time expressing their outrage. Yet somehow, a year after such rioting began, Mayor Ted Wheeler had finally had enough. Without Trump to blame, Wheeler had run out of scapegoats. Guess all it took was Biden being sworn in, swelling gas prices, and further destruction of downtown Portland to get Wheeler to wise up.
Lifelong bozos like Ted Wheeler will never take an ounce of accountability for the unrest of their cities, and it’s hard to watch.

“The city is beginning to recover, but self-described anarchists who engage in regular criminal destruction don’t want things to open up, to recover,” Wheeler said to the media. “They want to prevent us from doing the work of making a better Portland for everyone. They want to burn, they want to bash.”
Man, we told ya so. But what’s important to understand here is that Portland’s mayor didn’t just randomly have a lightbulb go off. He’s aware of the real enemy — he just didn’t like Donald Trump. Our former president was opening the eyes of Americans to our true enemy, and that was a direct threat to the agenda of Leftists like Ted Wheeler.
Portland’s “leader” just plays musical chairs of the blame game, and it works like a charm there. Unless, of course, you want to live a healthy or safe life. Then it sucks.
The thing is, no one actually cares about Portland anymore, not even those who live there. It’s officially a wasteland of intentionally unemployed losers who get off on the downfall of America. No one wants to celebrate an opened economy or breakaway from masks because that means you have to get a job — and there’s nothing the hoodlums destroying Portland enjoy less than working.

This is the domino effect of poor leadership and hoodwinked civilians. Want protection from COVID, from murderous police officers, or from gang violence?
Well, guess what? Mayor Ted Wheeler hasn’t done any of that for Portland.
If you want leadership that works for the people and that doesn’t push intentionally asinine agendas for power, then move to a conservative state. Oh yeah, and then start voting conservative, too. Probably the most important part.
Now that we no longer need chaos to try to muddy up Trump we’ll pretend like we’re doing something because we’ve got to protect our phony baloney jobs.
“Let my retard progressive city burn down to own Trump” was an interesting strategy until… it kept happening and he couldn’t dishonestly blame Trump as he had been doing.
The Democrat double-cross is on. All those rioters who were released or not charged last Summer/Fall are in for a rude awakening if the statute of limitations hadn’t expired on their past bad behavior. (Did all of you really think you were going to get off scot-free? Oh no, in fact you may have an overextended stay in the pokey…)

Sadly no – the Multnomah County prosecutor, Mike Schmidt is a proponent of Critical Race Theory. He is anti-bail. He refuses to prosecute “Protestors” that wear masks because police cannot positively identify them among the other masked rioters, er protesters. Portland PD arrests Antifa and they are released in the morning without bail. Even a dude that punched a cop in the face was released without bail last week. As long as Mike Schmidt is in office it doesn’t matter who the cops on the ground are – the madness will continue. Even the Mayor asking for people to identify Antifa is laughable because even if the cops arrest them the prosecutor will just release them within hours. The amazing part of all this is that in the Portland metro area a married couple needs to make $50 an hour (combined income) just to make the poverty line. It is one of the most expensive places to live in the country and it has the worst quality of life in the US. But hey – they keep voting in Mike Schmidt so the residents must love it.

What I am about to share should surprise no one.
A close friend of mine lives in Portland, in a very wealthy area (Lake Oswego, if you care). His neighbor owns several business downtown in the areas directly affected by the riots. This neighbor also grew up with and went to school with Ted Wheeler. They are still on very friendly terms. He petitioned Wheeler early on last summer to do something about the chaos downtown, as it was hurting his businesses. Wheeler told him, “I can’t, I am following orders.”
It seems the orders have finally changed.
Democrat politicians are criminals. Them locking up rioters is the pot and kettle.

So woke, so compassionate, so aware. It’s been a year long experiment in mostly non-violent protests and reimagined public safety. Well done Mayor Wheeler. We all know that with any progressive approach to really anything that sacrifices had to be made.

Portland, Chicago, Baltimore, New York City, Detroit, LA, and DC are just a few examples of Dem mayors making a mess.
Detroit is the outlier in that group. Despite being a cesspool of Dem pols, their police chief doesn’t put up with any garbage, and their pro-business mayor (Mike Duggan) isn’t a wacked out loon. You know why? They don’t have a cadre of white leftists/socialists telling them what to do.
Though I should say, despite that, Detroit remains one of the most violent cities in the nation. So yes, thanks to Dem policies, the city is still a mess.
Detroit knows the failure of corrupt, inept Democrat leadership all too well: violence, poverty, misery, economic collapse and finally bankruptcy. The leadership now does not want to go back. Despite a still too high violent crime rate Detroit has not seen the surge in murders and rioting that all these other leftist crap-holes have. Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Murderappolis, New York are headed down the drain like Detroit of yesteryear. Baltimore is sadly probably already there.

Good article, but what is more saddening is that the people of Portland will most likely reelect him come election time.

Gary, I agree with everything but one point. Portland is not the home of intentionally unemployed losers. America is now the home for that. Go anywhere that needs entry level workers (factories, restaurants, etc.) and you’ll find businesses that can’t hire people. If people actually had to have jobs to support themselves, some of this might not be happening. Idle hands are the devil’s playground.
I recently tried to make a hire at my business. The people I’m trying to hire are making $400 a week from the state and $600 a week from the federal government to sit at home. That’s $25/hr I have to compete with just to hire someone to do entry level work. It’s a damn joke and I wish someone would give the problem some coverage.
Yep, but sadly you won’t see any mainstream media coverage of this. And as the weather gets warmer and you have all of these people not working, things will continue to get worse in our big cities.
Well what those parasites don’t get is that 25 bucks an hour dries up if the productive hosts all die off from their selfishness.

Amen. The first thing I will look for on a resume when this is over (will it ever be?) is a person’s work history during the “pandemic.”. And by pandemic, I mean the pandemic of liberal policy.
When people complain about the government they asked for then they have the government they deserve. Some people would rather submit to incompetent authority than admit they were wrong when they voted them into office.
Man w no name said it best- Try and go to a restaurant now and you will see 2-3 people working and the managers will tell you that no one comes into work anymore, expect for everything to increase in price drastically.
This will continue until the extended unemployment expires (September 6), so settle in as America has made its bed, really assess your geography as living in certain States will matter more than ever.
I can’t imagine why anyone with the means to go somewhere else would stay in Portland. This applies to a lot of major cities, and I can’t imagine what those cities will be like in a few years when the tax base is all gone. Unless they decide to change course and fix things.
