Caitlin Clark Crushes In WNBA Indiana Fever Debut, Drops 16 Points In First Half

It may only be the preseason, but if last night was any indication of how Caitlin Clark's WNBA career will go, it appears that she'll be just fine.

The WNBA No. 1 draft pick made her Indiana Fever debut Friday night as they tipped off their preseason against the Dallas Wings in front of a sold-out arena of over 6,500 (of which tickets were going for big bucks.)

Clark came out HOT - scoring 16 of her 21 points in the first half alone, including hitting her first ever WNBA shot - which was to no surprise, a three-pointer.

CAITLIN CLARK FEVER RUNS WILD

At times, she looked like Steph Curry as she drained some deep shots well beyond the arc.

Her footwork was on point too, at times making the Dallas defense trip over their own feet. Someone needs to make this a poster immediately!

However, at one point, Clark began complaining to the referees after driving late in the game towards the basket and being blocked despite thinking she was fouled. Replays clearly showed that it was a clean block. Throughout the NCAA Women's Tournament, Clark was criticized for what almost came across as her constant whining to officials - with her father even telling her to calm down at points.

Despite Clark's 21 points, the Fever still came up short to the Wings as her last second off-balance shot hit the side of the backboard and Indiana lost 79-76. Afterwords, Clark said that she believes that her debut was, "a great start… overall, [my first experience] was definitely what I expected," before adding that the game will be a learning experience for the team working together as a unit.

The Fever's next game will be their preseason home opener next Friday when they host the Atlanta Dream.
