'World's Hottest Track Athlete' Alica Schmidt Is Headed To Tokyo Olympics

It's official -- Alica Schmidt, whom I dubbed the 'World's Hottest Track Athlete' like 4 or 5 years ago, is headed to the Tokyo Olympics for Team Germany. Schmidt, who announced back in May that she would be "going hard for who ever goes hard for me," will be part of the 4X400 relay team as well as the mixed 4X400 relay.

"TOKYO IS CALLING - I‘m going to the Olympics!," Schmidt wrote on Instagram over the weekend. "Still feels unreal! I’m so grateful and at the same time thrilled to experience something I have been dreaming of since I started all of this! Bring it on - I so can’t wait for this(.)"

Those of you who have been followers of mine for the last decade or so might remember how I plucked Schmidt off Instagram Discover, dubbed her the "World's Hottest Track Athlete" and that led to tabloids around the world jumping on the Alica Schmidt train. Now she can post the most mundane things and the British tabloids turn it into front-page material.

However, this time we have a legitimate story here. We have an Olympics that starts on July 23 and it's imperative that we load up on pageview machines you guys can get behind, even if they compete for Team Germany.

Dreams really do come true around here. One minute, you're just a random track athlete. The next minute, you're sitting on a 1.7 million Instagram fortune and a trip to the Olympics. Keep dreaming, Alica Schmidt!
