Will Ohio State Use The Transfer Portal To Upgrade The LB Spot?

So much has been made of the transfer portal in and around the NCAA this offseason that many teams like Ohio State are still in the process of seeing which players might still be available.

Reports say that the team is in chats with USC linebacker Palaie Gaoteote, a player who has been connected with the Buckeyes as well as the University of Texas.

Gaoteote will for sure listen to what the Buckeyes have to say, but since Texas was first to contact him, he may just decide to listen and hear out what the Longhorns have to offer.

The Buckeyes have other LBs on their radar screen aside from Gaoteote. Rumors say that the team will also talk to other players in the portal to see if they may have an interest in coming to play in Columbus in 2021 and beyond.

Linebacker is the spot that Ohio State needs the most help. Right now, the team is set to run a defense with just two linebackers.

The two starters are both fourth-year players who have enough experience to get the job done. The question now is whether the Buckeyes will be active in the portal, or whether they will sit back and develop the players they already have.
