Nothing screams “pride” like charging attendees $50 for having the wrong skin color. And that is exactly what a Seattle Pride event is doing.
Seattle Pride’s website states the following as it relates to their June 26th ‘Taking B(l)ack Pride’ event: “All are free to attend HOWEVER this is a BLACK AND BROWN QUEER TRANS CENTERED, PRIORITIZED, VALUED, EVENT. White allies and accomplices are welcome to attend but will be charged a $10 to $50 reparations fee that will be used to keep this event free of cost for BLACK AND BROWN Trans and Queer COMMUNITY.” And in a surprise to no one, cops are banned from attending.
Charlette LeFevre and Philip Lipson, organizers of Seattle’s racially exclusive Capitol Hill Pride event, were amongst many to ask Seattle’s Human Rights Commission to investigate whether the ‘Take B(l)ack Pride’ event is an ethics and elections violation or a reverse discrimination attendance policy, per Newsweek.
The Human Rights Commission responded by stating that the event, “does not in fact violate any of your human rights as stated in the UN Declaration of Human Rights.”
In a shockingly ignorant and uneducated response, the HRC stated: “We would like to recommend, if possible, that you educate yourself on the harm it may cause Seattle’s BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) in your pursuit of a free ticket to an event that is not expressly meant for you and your entertainment.”
To recap, per both the Seattle Pride event and Seattle’s Human Rights Commission, if you are white, this event is expressly not meant for you and your entertainment. And if you dare attend, you’ll be charged $50 because your skin is a different shade than theirs. Reverse racism at its finest, folks!
Imagine shelling out $50 to attend a racially exclusive event. That money would be better spent on a GoFundMe campaign to help find Nicole Brown Simpson’s killer.
Same as paying me $50 not to attend.
Seattle is becoming more of a toilet every day and this event is a celebration of exactly that. Not the participants, but the thinking behind the event.
The grift will just keep pushing away more and more sane people. Unfortunately sane people seem to be in shorter and shorter supply, so hopefully things like this are a wake up call.

To be fair – there should be some sort of a financial penalty for being dumb enough to attend one of these.
I saw a photo of an older man with 5 young dudes on leashes in leather (literally) barking like dogs. There is a word for this in our English vernacular. It’s depravity.
$50 for the privilege of taking part in a freak show. And make no mistake…that’s exactly what it is, though no one dare say the obvious. I’ll pass.

Good. So the next time a Black/Latino Queer gender confused person shows up to a party they get charged $50 to attend because the event is not for you or your entertainment. I am fine if the rule is applied to everyone. Like Chris Luke commented, what white person in their right mind would attend this event?
You know what, I’m glad. Let these white, hippie, grunge, champagne liberals suffer the consequences of the choices they make in the voting booth.
I absolutely love this. This has nothing to do with skin color; this is an IQ test, and we should all applaud the people using this nonsense to build wealth. When the government gets involved in racial profiling we should shout it down every time. When individual enterprise tells people exactly what it thinks of them and allows consumers to make a choice based on that information, we should applaud them. I love not giving my money to racist organizations, but I also love watching people fail their IQ test and continue to give money to racist organizations… it’s pure capitalism at its finest – if someone is willing to pay the price you’re charging, then you’re charging the right amount. Frankly, I hope next year they bump it to $1,000…
