Ball State lost a football game on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t a normal loss. The Cardinals blew their game against Miami (OH) in the most MACtion way possible.
Let’s paint a picture here.
There are only 42 seconds left in the game. The game is tied at 31, and Ball State is on its own 27-yard line. The chances of getting into field goal range for a potential game-winning kick are unlikely. But go for it, if you must. Just don’t turn the ball over.
Well, someone forgot to tell that to Cardinals quarterback Drew Plitt. Or maybe they did and he just forgot. Either way, his late fourth-quarter decision ended up costing his team an opportunity for an overtime victory.

I will be retiring from #MACtion betting until further notice after losing Ball State ML on this. I will be taking no further questions at this time. pic.twitter.com/1bCtSgtYIe

Ouch.
A potential victory opportunity for Ball State turned into the RedHawks walking away victorious after 38-31 final score. The blunder moves the Cardinals to 0-1 on the season.
Plitt threw for 300-plus yards and a touchdown, but that back-breaking interception was all it took to offset an otherwise solid performance. The fifth-year senior should have enough experience to know that decision cannot be made.
With that being said, the MACtion would not be the MACtion without this sort of ending. It’s what makes the weekday football so appealing.

My guy Mr. Whitlock should be coaching!! He will not be happy with this but being a ball state fan is better than being a auburn fan honestly
Whitlock is gonna be unavailable for a few days…
As BSU alum I was hopeful that BSU football was on the rise…but looks like I might still have to wait. I just wish I could have drowned my sorrows at the chug after the game. By the way shit out to Ross Tucker who announced the game. I thought he did a great job.
