Robert Tonyan has emerged as a threat for the Packers this season, catching five touchdowns from Aaron Rodgers so far this season. However, those who have said his name have all pronounced it incorrectly. The Packers and the celebrated TE issued a correction today:
I have some news: Packers PR has alerted us that Robert Tonyan’s last name is pronounced “Tunyan,” as in rhyming with “Funion.” Apparently he just didn’t feel like correcting anybody the last two years.

This isn’t quite like finding out dogs are cats and cats are dogs but it’s a jarring discovery that will take me months if not years to accept. This is reminiscent of the time we found out that Tyrod Tayor was pronounced Tuh-rod.
What’s the mispronunciation in your life that has given you the biggest jolt?
To answer your question at the end, I had a friend Bob who advised me that it was pronounced Joe as in rhyming with crow.
Kinda like Brett Far-VEE. (Or is it Far-VAY…)
