Week 4 NFL Upset Alert: Titans & Browns Bring $urprises

The Washington Redskins came up big last week, as we knew they would, over the Packers and now it’s time to focus on two live underdogs in Week 4 that we believe have a great chance to cover the number and even win the game outright. Let’s check them out as well as the corresponding Sportsbook Review odds.

Eagles at Titans – Sunday, 1 PM ET

More often than not we tend to fade teams after a big win the week before, but this week we will make an exception with the Tennessee Titans. If you went to Mars last week and missed it, the Titans came up huge against their divisional rivals from Jacksonville when they traveled to the Sunshine State as 10-point road dogs and came away the best in a defensive battle that ended in a 9-6 Titans victory. The Jaguars may have won the AFC South last season, but the Titans have now won and covered the number in four of their last five meetings.

Marcus Mariota came to the rescue in Week 3 after Blaine Gabbert was knocked out, and although Mariota did not wow anyone with his arm, he does have a cool, calm presence and can still make plays with his legs. He will be the man under center on Sunday right from the get-go, which makes Tennessee even more attractive, particularly when one considers that Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz is still far from up to speed after making his season debut last week off an ACL. Let’s also not forget that the Eagles could be overlooking this opponent with an eye towards next week when they meet the Minnesota Vikings.

Whenever we need to check odds and point spreads, the first place we click to is Sportsbook Review, a site dedicated to all things sports betting including displaying the current odds from the best online sportsbooks. SBR is telling us that the majors are uniform in dealing the Titans +4 at home. Let’s not forget that this Tennessee edition is being coached up by Mike Vrabel, who sat at the foot of the master, Bill Belichick, for seven years as a player, and it’s already bearing fruit in his first year as an NFL head coach. Let’s grab the points and put a few bucks on the Titans money line at +175 to shock the world champs.

Browns at Raiders – Sunday, 4:05 PM ET

The Baker Mayfield era has arrived in Cleveland after he came off the bench and led the Browns to their first victory since the Stone Age last week against the Jets. The kid looked sharp in throwing for over 200 yards in just a half and got his offense to rise up and rally past the Jets for a 21-17 victory. If the No. 1 overall pick can do that against a decent pass defense, then what do you think he will do to the Raiders sieve-like secondary and linebacking corps? That’s the big key here because the Browns have improved in all aspects of the game.

Now, we grant you the barometer was not set very high, but we can see that Cleveland is no longer the weak, skinny kid in school. This boy has been pumpin’ iron at the gym and taking a few boxing lessons to boot. The only reason the winless Raiders should be favorites over anyone is …  Wait, we’ll think of a reason. Oh, right, because the public perception of the Browns is so negative that even a lousy team like Oakland will be perceived as the favorite by the square betting public.

But we know better and according to our friends at Sportsbook Review, the Browns are getting as much as a 3-point head start at some of the best online sportsbooks. That’s why it’s always good to have accounts at more than one sportsbook so you can get the best line possible because half points can be the difference between winning, pushing, and losing. Back the Browns this week to not only cover the number but get the win outright at +130 on your money line wager.
