WATCH: Daniel Jones Trips Over Himself During 80-Yard Run

It was a rough night for the New York Giants. The team fell to 1-6 on the season after dropping a 22-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. The team now sits in last place in the NFC East.

As rough as it was for the Giants on Thursday night, starting quarterback Daniel Jones probably had the toughest go of it. The former No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft added two more turnovers (one interception, one lost fumble) to his 2020 total.

One of the only good plays for Jones was an 80-yard run midway through the third quarter, but he somehow managed to screw that one up too. Check it out.

The good news for Jones is that the drive still resulted in a touchdown. The bad news is his team lost, and he continues to have issues hanging on to the football.

His fumble came on his team’s final drive as they marched down the field, hoping for a game-winning field goal. Instead, Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham forced a strip sack to give Philadelphia (2-4-1) its second win of the season.

Jones finished the night with 279 total yards (187 passing, 92 rushing) and two touchdowns while completing 66.7 percent of his passes. Not a bad stat line at all, but his issues with turnovers continue to be a problem. Offensive weapons, like tight end Evan Engram, have also dropped passes, which doesn't help.

It’s been an ugly season for the Giants through seven games, and Jones tripping over air on a long touchdown run is the perfect metaphor for their struggles.
