Vikings vs Cardinals Thursday Night Football Betting Preview

The Minnesota Vikings are 8-4 on the season and in contention for a playoff berth in the NFC, but they're still pegged as fairly heavy underdogs on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. The Vikings opened as 7-point road underdogs and have slipped to 7.5-point underdogs at some sportsbooks as they look to shake off a stretch of the season that has seen them get tagged with two losses in their past three games.

That run began three weeks ago when Minnesota fell 30-13 at home to the rival Green Bay Packers as a 1-point favorite. The Vikings then beat the Atlanta Falcons 20-10 on the road as 2-point underdogs, but last week they were thumped 38-7 at home by the Seattle Seahawks as 3-point underdogs on the betting lines.

That has Minnesota 8-4 straight up but 9-3 against the spread on the season, and totals bettors have watched them go 2-8-2 on the OVER/UNDER through 12 games and 1-4-1 on the OVER/UNDER in their last six outings.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, are 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS on the season and holding down a three-game lead on the Seahawks in the NFC West standings heading into Thursday night's game. And Arizona is riding a six-game SU winning streak which they capped off with a 27-3 victory at St. Louis last week where they easily covered the 3.5-point spread.

The Cardinals are also moving up on the odds to win Super Bowl 50, as they sit at +550 on those latest futures behind only the Carolina Panthers (+400) and New England Patriots (+450). The Vikings, despite being tied for their division lead with the Packers, are back at +4000 on the latest Super Bowl 50 odds.

Arizona and Minnesota last met back in October 2012 according to the OddsShark NFL Database, with the Vikings winning 21-14 as 7-point home favorite in a PUSH result on the betting lines that day. The Cardinals are just 2-8 SU and 4-5-1 ATS in their last 10 games against the Vikings dating all the way back to 1997.

Kickoff for the game at University of Phoenix Stadium is set for 8:25pm ET. Check out the complete Vikings vs Cardinals matchup report at OddsShark.com.
