Vikings GM: Ignore Rumors, 'Kirk Cousins Is Our Quarterback'

The Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman says to ignore the rumors because quarterback Kirk Cousins is their guy going forward.

"Kirk Cousins is our quarterback," Spielman said. "I know there's a lot of rumors floating around out there, but Kirk Cousins is our quarterback. We felt that he played very well."

Speilman said Cousins played "the best he's ever played" last season, and made it clear the team was sticking with the two-time Pro Bowler who threw a career-high 35 touchdowns in 2020.

Spielman reiterated that the quarterback out of Michigan State is their guy moving forward, and said head coach Mike Zimmer's comments last month ended any speculation.

Zimmer's confidence in the signal-caller was on display as he spoke to NFL Network's Good Morning Football in February.

"Kirk's our guy," Zimmer said. "You know, he had a terrific year this year. We were fourth in the league on offense. We have to get better on defense — we had a lot of injuries and young guys — that's my job to get it fixed."

Spielman said he looks forward to having Cousins another year in the system.

" excited for him and what he's going to bring to our team next year," he said.
