Trevor Lawrence sat down for an interview with Tom Rinaldi for ESPN’s College GameDay. Rinaldi’s last question was about what made the presumptive no. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft return to play this season (in light of the obvious risks):
“I just love football,” Lawrence said. “I’m graduating in December. I plan on this being my last season — just really excited to have one more with my brothers, my teammates, my coaches, that I’ve grown so close to over the last three years. I definitely respect everyone else’s decision, but I’m a football player. I know I’m more than that but at the end of the day that’s what I love to do.”
It’s notable here that Lawrence implied it was his last season at Clemson. I mean, we all could have surmised that would be the case, but this was essentially a formal acknowledgement of that.
