Vatican Announces Investigation Into Pope's Instagram Account After Model's Content Is Liked

The story of the official Pope Francis Instagram account liking an Instagram model's schoolgirl outfit photo isn't going away, and according to the Catholic News Agency, the Vatican has now launched a probe to get to the bottom of a controversy that has left so many in the religious community scratching their heads. The photo in question is of Brazilian Instagram star/Twitch streamer Natalia Garibotto.

In the photo, Ms. Garibotto appears to be in between classes at a community college. “My mum may hate my ass pics, but the Pope be double-tapping,” the Brazilian told Barstool Sports. “At least I’m going to heaven,” she added.

Catholic News Agency reports that "sources close to the Vatican press office confirmed to CNA that the pope’s various social media accounts are managed by a team of employees, and that an internal investigation is underway to determine how the 'like' happened." The news agency doesn't say whether the Pope has access to his official account on a Pope phone or if he even knows what he's double-tapping.

The Instagram 'Like' isn't the first time the Pope's office has had an interesting viral moment on its hands. Back in 2014, the Pope blessed a parrot belonging to a male porn star that caused headlines throughout the world. These things happen. He's the Pope. He's human. Life happens.
