UNLV Has Plan To Play In Front Of Fans At Allegiant Stadium

If a plan presented by UNLV to Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak's office is approved, Allegiant Stadium could allow up to 10% capacity for Rebel football games. UNLV would be looking at around 6,500 fans inside the brand new stadium.

“We appreciate Governor Sisolak and his staff’s work on this new directive,” UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois said in a statement. “The health and safety of everyone involved — whether on the field or in the stands — is our primary concern, and as prescribed in the Governor’s Directive 033, we will submit our plans to the Southern Nevada Health District and then to the state’s Department of Business & Industry for approval. As Governor Sisolak shared, let’s all continue to promote personal responsibility and follow the important safety protocols, including wearing our masks, so that we can remain healthy, safe and continue the positive trajectory.”

UNLV would sell tickets on a game-by-game basis and fans would be required to wear a mask and social distance. The Mountain West is expected to announce the 2020 schedule at some point this week. Your dream of watching college football over a Vegas weekend just might come true in 2020.

As for the Raiders, they announced in August the team will not allow fans into the stadium the entire NFL season. That decision could ultimately cost the team a whopping $571 million in revenue.
