UNC Set To Play Kentucky In Las Vegas After UCLA Backs Out Due To COVID-19

At this point, it's fair to question which sporting events will be taking place this weekend.

COVID-19 has rocked the NFL, NHL and NBA, leading to the postponements of games. The marquee matchup in college basketball will now not go on as planned either. No. 4 UCLA (8-1) was set to take on North Carolina in Las Vegas on Saturday. Amid COVID-19 issues within the Bruins' program, however, that game has now been canceled.

Stadium's Jeff Goodman reports it will now be North Carolina (8-2) vs. No. 21 Kentucky (7-2) at 5:30 p.m. ET in Las Vegas in the CBS Sports Classic.

Kentucky was originally set to play No. 15 Ohio State (8-2) on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. ET. The Buckeyes announced on Thursday that due to COVID-19 issues, the game was off and would not be made up.

A quick pivot was made by both Kentucky and North Carolina, leading to the 42nd meeting all-time between the two programs. North Carolina is up 25-16 in the series. It will also be Hubert Davis' debut roaming the sidelines for the Tar Heels against the Wildcats.

The following programs are going on pause or actively canceling games, per Goodman.
