Tyreek Hill Thought Patrick Mahomes Was 'Trash'

Patrick Mahomes is the NFL's passing leader, the reigning league MVP, and the man who takes the snaps for the defending Super Bowl champs. But at first sight, wide receiver Tyreek Hill wasn't sold on Mahomes as the future of the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I thought he was trash,” Hill said on Showtime's Inside The NFL. “When he first got there I was like, 'This is who y’all drafted right here? This is who y’all drafted?'"

Hill is second in the NFL in receiving yards, and his connection with Mahomes is among the top reasons that the Chiefs are 10-1 heading into Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

It's a connection Hill didn't see coming back when the Chiefs drafted Mahomes as the No. 10 pick back in 2017.

"Hey but look, he proved me into a whole complete, I don’t know. That second year, like, his quarterback mechanics were different," Hill said. "It was like he was spending more time with his quarterback coach, spending more time with coach (Andy) Reid, like, learning the offense. Dude was, like, different.”

Hill has 68 catches for 1,021 yards this season and leads the NFL with 13 touchdown receptions.
